Israel’s prime minister rejects international dictates
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected this Thursday the “international dictates” on a peace agreement with the Palestinians, which includes the recognition of the State of Palestine, and assured that he will only negotiate directly with them and “without preconditions”
Opposition to the unilateral recognition of the Palestinian State
Likewise, he has opposed the “unilateral recognition” of a Palestinian state considering that it would be a “huge reward for unprecedented terrorism”, referring to the attacks by Hamas on October 7, which left 1,200 dead and 240 hostages
Impediment to future peace agreements
Netanyahu has also opined that the establishment of the State of Palestine, demanded by much of the international community, including the United States (US), its most important ally, “would prevent any future peace agreement”
Differences with US President Joe Biden
The difference of opinion between Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden has materialized on numerous issues, including the impending ground assault on the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, which serves as a haven for more of a million Palestinians who have nowhere to go
