The yellow ribbon removed without a court order
The municipal group of ERC in La Paeria has denounced that the mayor Fèlix Larrosa ordered to remove the yellow ribbon that had been hanging with a thread over Plaça Paeria for more than six years early this Thursday morning. The spokeswoman for the republicans, Jordina Freixanet, has assured that the removal is being done without any court order behind and at the behest of Vox, who at the plenary last July asked the mayor to remove any symbol that was not official.
Republican reaction
Jordina Freixanet has also regretted that the removal of the noose takes place precisely on the day that the amnesty law is approved and the same month that the “very unfair” disqualification of the former CUP councilor Pau Juvillà also for the nooses has been confirmed yellow at the Paeria office. According to Jordina Freixanet, after Vox made the request to the plenary in July, the socialist mayor Fèlix Larrosa said that he “took note” and in recent months the banner calling for the release of prisoners and exiles that was there had been removed on the facade of the Paeria, and the image of the Spanish king has also been put back in the plenary hall.
Claims and solidarity
In this sense, Freixanet recalled that a week ago the municipal government announced that it would not support any type of claim beyond those that refer to “municipal aspects”. For this reason, the republicans regret that from now on any show of solidarity from the fatherland towards causes such as those affecting the people of Ukraine or Sahrawi will be over.
Hope in the reaction of the people
From ERC they assure that despite the removal of the yellow ribbon they hope that soon the same town that hung it will put another one back. In the meantime, they say, they will hang one from the window of the office that the municipal group has on the fourth floor of the Paeria palace.
