The month of February is coming to an end, and with it come the opportunities to enjoy gastronomic festivities with friends. Nothing better than taking advantage of a weekend to make some good grilled artichokes, cook calçots or prepare a trinxat, to fight the cold and hunger. The weekend is full of fairs and festivals with seasonal vegetables as the main attractions. A local product that fills Catalonia with flavor and joy.

Calçot gastronomic days – Valls

Valls is the land of calçots par excellence, and this weekend celebrates the last gastronomic days dedicated to this vegetable of the season. Well, officially the last ones, because there will always be underpants in Valls. Twenty-five restaurants and food establishments will offer dishes and products from the calçot cuisine, in an initiative that also has the participation of seven local wineries, which have chosen their wines to accompany the different gastronomic proposals made with underpants The participating restaurants are: 9K de Valls, Ca l’Àngel, Ca la Ninona, Cítric, El tast de Valls, Incògnit, Km0, L’Ecliss, La Licorera, La Providencia, Luga, Planeta Kasteller and Portal 22, in more bakeries, butchers and wineries.

Route of the artichoke plates – Amposta

The restaurateurs of Amposta offer a variety of dishes with artichoke as the main ingredient. For a price of €5 per plate plus drink, the inhabitants of the city, and the visitors who come to them, will be able to taste the various proposals that are offered in some of the city’s premises. Popular Xatonada – El Vendrell

Xató, the king of Garraf and Penedès salads, will be the star of the popular Vendrell weekend xatónada. Anyone who visits the municipality will have the opportunity to try one of the more than three thousand portions of one of the most emblematic dishes of the territory. In addition, the fair of natural and artisan food products will open its doors to bring the town’s culture closer to visitors and to offer all the ingredients needed to prepare the xatonada at home. As the main dish of the weekend, however, the Contest of Masters Xatonaires will choose the best traditional Xaton of the Vendrell. From among all the participants who show up, a Master or Mistress Xatonaire will emerge.

Festa del trinxat – Puigcerdà: Cerdana cuisine in all its splendor

The Festa del Trinxat is the main gastronomic show in the region. An essential appointment for lovers of Cerdana cuisine. A showcase of local gastronomy and Km 0 products such as winter cabbage or truffles and which will have the collaboration of fifteen Puigcerdà restaurants. During dinner there will be a tasting of sausages and cheeses from the Pyrenees. Also with starters and cod as a second course, cooked by the Cuina Pirinenca de Cerdanya collective. For dessert, six patisseries in the valley will prepare cream swans.
