Arrest of suspected thieves
This Tuesday, local police officers arrested two people who were caught in the burnt block of flats while allegedly trying to steal. The structure located in the Campanar neighborhood caught fire last February 22 and ten people died in the virulent flames.
Intervention of the local police
According to the local police, at around 1:45 a.m. this Tuesday, two patrols were doing surveillance work in the building. At that moment, they heard noises coming from inside the building, which is why they called for support and proceeded to inspect it.
Escape from suspected thieves
On the second floor of the structure, the agents found two people who, seeing them, tried to escape. One of the suspected thieves was intercepted a few meters from the building by a support patrol that had moved to the scene after being warned by his colleagues. With the description of the second fugitive, he was located on another nearby street.
Tools found in the building
On the same floor, the Valencian police officers located a sports bag in which there were different tools, such as a hammer and pliers, which the thieves would have left behind when fleeing the building. In addition, it was found that the homes on the second and third floors were missing taps and other elements that would have been removed by the two arrested persons. Those involved, aged 23 and 51, have been taken to court.
