The municipality of Súria has prepared a program of events to commemorate International Women’s Day, which will take place from Friday to Sunday
The program includes institutional events, the presentation of a book, a walk and the painting of some panels. The activities aim to make visible the role of women in history, culture and society, as well as to claim their rights and their equality.
Friday March 8
– Throughout the day. Publication of the 8-M video, where testimonies of women from different areas and ages are collected about the meaning of this date.
– 6:30 p.m. Reading the manifesto. In charge of the Municipal Council of the Elderly. Performance of the Municipal School of Music. Place: Casa de la Villa.
– 7:30 p.m. Presentation of the book ‘Les degolllades de Folgueroles (1858)’ by Joan Vilamala and Terricabras. By the author. Time: 7:30 p.m. Place: Public Library. The book narrates a historical event that amounted to an attack on the life and dignity of women.
Sunday March 10
– 9.00 a.m. 3rd Women’s Walk. Ticket collection. Place: Plaça de Sant Joan.
– 9:30 a.m. Start of the 3rd Women’s Walk. Approximate route of 6 kilometers. Previous registrations. Registration includes breakfast, refreshments and t-shirt. You must bring your own glass. The walk is a sporting and solidarity activity, as part of the profits will go to an organization that works to defend women’s rights.
– Throughout the morning. Plafond painting by the Children’s Municipal Council. The panels will display messages and drawings related to 8-M and gender equality.
