The optimism of Carles Puigdemont’s lawyer in the legal battles

Hope in the judicial outcome

Carles Puigdemont’s lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, has been optimistic about the outcome of the court battles that the exiled president has open, especially in Europe. In an interview with Cadena SER, Boye assured that the new amnesty law, agreed between ERC, Junts and the PSOE at the last minute before the vote this Thursday, shields everyone if it is applied democratically, including Puigdemont. The amendments agreed upon and included in the new draft, according to Boye, are focused on strengthening the law in the face of a “European battle”, which he claims has “been won”.

The coverage of the requested ‘holes’

Puigdemont’s defender has celebrated that the incorporated amendments cover all the “holes” that Junts asked to cover. “We have maintained that there were some holes that needed to be covered and they have been covered and, in the end, both the Socialist Party and the ERC have understood the need to make these changes,” he said.

Optimism in the judicial battle against Europe

Thus, Boye has reiterated that the judicial battle in Europe “has already been won based on the current wording of the law”. Despite the optimism, and along the same lines as Junts, he considered that “it will depend on the judges if they want a new European confrontation or not”. The lawyer has also denied the rumors spread by different media that assured that the delay in the approval of the text was a consequence of Boye’s pressure to include his cause in the rule.
