Pere Romeu, the new coach
The Barça women’s team will have a new coach next season. After the announcement of Jonatan Giráldez’s farewell, Joan Laporta has chosen Pere Romeu as his replacement to lead the best team in Europe and, possibly, the world. Romeu, who was already part of Giráldez’s technical team, will take over the reins of Barça women’s from next season.
A trustworthy man
Pere Romeu is a trusted man of Jonatan Giráldez and knows perfectly the needs of the champion team. Since the summer of 2021, Romeu has been working alongside Giráldez as coach of the women’s first team. With his experience and knowledge of the Barça DNA, Romeu is ready to take on the challenge of leading the Barça women’s team and continue the success that has been achieved so far.
A path of preparation
Before becoming part of the Barça women’s team, Pere Romeu spent three years working in men’s base football. During this time, he learned everything there was to know about the Barça DNA and worked as Sergi Milà’s second coach in teams such as Cadet A and Cadet B. In addition, Romeu also had experience abroad , being part of Romanian Viitorul before returning to Barça women’s.
Continuity and success
Joan Laporta’s decision to choose Pere Romeu as the new Barça women’s coach is a bet for continuity and success. Romeu was one of the best-placed candidates for this position, along with Rafel Navarro, Giráldez’s second coach. With this decision, Laporta demonstrates his confidence in the work done so far and in Romeu’s ability to continue with the team’s successful trajectory.
Now we just have to wait for this announcement to be made official and wish Pere Romeu the best of luck in this new challenge at the head of the Barça women’s team.
