A high tension match
With the precedent of the racist incidents at the Mestalla match last season, the clash between Valencia and Real Madrid was shaping up to be a high-tension game. Beyond the refereeing controversy at the end of the match, the duel developed with some normality.
A campaign of hate and racism
However, it was at the end of the match when a part of the Madrid fans started a campaign of hatred and racism towards the young Valencia player and former player of the white club, Peter Federico. The footballer only tried to compete and defend the colors of his new shirt, encouraging at certain points in the stands to cheer even more in the final stages of the match. In fact, the Spanish player of Dominican origin had two clear chances to leave the three points in Mestalla. These gestures of Peter Federico did not go down well with a certain sector of the white fans, which resulted in a wave of comments of hatred and racism that has forced the young footballer to deactivate the comments on his social networks.
Valencia’s complaint
Valencia has published a statement denouncing the hatred that its footballer has received and defining as “totally inadmissible some comments encouraging hatred” towards Peter Federico after the match. At the same time, the club has shown its commitment against discrimination through the VCF WORLD – ZERO DISCRIMINATION campaign, which it launched at the beginning of the season and which seeks to combat hatred and racism both inside and outside the stadium
A persistent problem
It should be remembered that after the unfortunate incidents in last season’s game, the campaign defending the Brazilian player Vinícius Júnior and denouncing the attitude of certain fans crossed the international barrier, even going so far as to turn off the lights of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro or to a Netflix documentary against the racist comments towards the Real Madrid player.
Commitment against discrimination
Valencia, through the VCF WORLD – ZERO DISCRIMINATION campaign, seeks to combat hatred and racism both inside and outside the stadium. This initiative aims to promote equality and diversity, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all fans.
