A new stage for children’s literature
The Generalitat de Catalunya has launched a new edition of the ‘Be 6 years old, choose a book’ campaign, designed to encourage the love of reading among the youngest. This year, boys and girls who turn six years old will receive a 13 euro voucher that they can redeem in local bookstores for a children’s book.
Boost to bookstores and culture
With the aim of bringing children closer to bookstores and enriching their cultural experience, this initiative is expected to benefit approximately 60,000 boys and girls in Catalonia. The values can be used in 503 bookstores until November 30, providing a unique opportunity to discover new stories.
Literary recommendations for young readers
To facilitate the selection of books, Ona Llibres has prepared a list of outstanding titles that have received four stars in Faristol magazine, which specializes in children’s and youth literature.
Captivating stories
Among the recommended titles we find ‘The girl who wanted to draw’ by Roser Capdevila, a work that offers a nostalgic look at the author’s childhood, as well as ‘The human body’ by Joëlle Jolivet, an interactive book that invites children to explore anatomy in a fun way.
Stories with a message
Works such as ‘Cat and penguin’ by Oriol Garcia Molsosa present funny situations that deal with themes such as adaptation and coexistence, while ‘A song for every occasion’ by Núria Casas seeks to create emotional bonds between parents and babies through music .
Creativity and fun
Books such as ‘Papallona’ by Marc Majewski and ‘Diari esmorzar’ by Alicia Bululú offer a space for imagination and emotional exploration, encouraging children to dream and express themselves through words.
The power of reading
This campaign not only promotes access to literature, but also reinforces the importance of reading as a tool for personal and emotional growth. The selected books are a gateway to imaginary worlds that will enrich children’s lives and encourage their curiosity.
A promising future for children’s literature
With initiatives like this, Catalonia reaffirms its commitment to culture and education, ensuring that the children of today are the passionate readers of tomorrow. Literature is a gift that lasts, and this campaign is a clear demonstration of that.
