Opening of the Riu Valley bridge to take advantage of the Easter holidays

A new opening to take advantage of the holidays

It is the third course of life of the bridge over the river valley. And this time, it has been decided to advance the opening to take advantage of the Holy Week days. This, as explained by the corporation’s head of tourism and trade, Francesc Oriol, means putting everything into motion a month and a half before last year’s date. For now, though, it’s worth it.

News for the new season

By June, we hope to have two novelties for the new season underway: on the one hand, the booth that will provide bar and restaurant services; on the other, the possibility of ‘jumping’ from the center of the structure.

A different visit

“Now it’s a different visit”, he points out. Indeed, the bridge is surrounded by a winter landscape, full of snow – a lot of which fell the last night and which forced him to work from early morning to get everything ready – and cold, of course. Conditions that have not discouraged the people who already had tickets for this opening day. In a few hours, the two hundred have already been exceeded, so a good pace.

Good expectations and tourist attraction

“We had good expectations. The reservation website was active since Monday and we immediately had many,” commented Oriol. Therefore, it is shown that the bridge is attractive even in this more complicated time climatically. “Behavior has always been good and, now, it is very good”, emphasized the communal manager.

Schedule and other attractions

For now, the infrastructure will open from ten in the morning to four in the afternoon. On the other hand, the other element of the package, the Roc del Quer viewpoint can also be visited, in this case without paying. It will not start to be charged until the end of April.

Surpassing last year’s figures

Last year, the bridge reached 96,000 users. This year, this figure is expected to be surpassed. “We set ourselves the challenge of getting between 95,000 and 100,000”, commented Oriol. The fact that the operating time will be longer should help, obviously. In fact, the intention is to have it available whenever the weather permits. “The consul was very clear. We have to make the effort to have it up and running because it is very important for tourism and trade in the parish”, he commented. Therefore, “we will do our best as long as the weather conditions allow it”.

Tourist satisfaction

For now, tourists continue to leave the experience very satisfied. This is how Candela, originally from Conca, explained it. “It is very good; it’s a bit dizzying but the scenery is beautiful. When it’s less windy we want to come back”, he said. For her part, Lídia affirmed that “it was better than I expected” and, despite admitting “having been a bit scared”, she reaffirmed that it is a “visit that I recommend 200%”.

Future news

Over the next few months, the common will work to finalize several new features that should make the Tibetan bridge even more attractive. On the one hand, the booth that will provide the bar and restaurant service, which should be up and running in June. Towards that date, we also want to launch, via an external concession, the possibility of ‘jumping’ from the middle of the bridge, a fall of 158 meters into the void tied with elastic ropes. The competition to have a company that offers this experience is still underway.
