A new horizon at the Marín Naval School

From today, Elionor de Borbó will begin an unprecedented chapter in her life in Pontevedra, where she will be integrated as a marine guard at the Escola Naval Militar de Marín. His new residence will become his home for the next few months, until, in January, he embarks on the school ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, a step that his father also followed.

A start with intense training

The young aristocrat will start her journey with an accelerated training course, where she will meet new travel companions. According to Semana magazine, Elionor will receive a monthly compensation of €350, an amount that will not become effective until November. This means that you will have to meet the initial costs of the necessary material and clothing with your own resources.

An opportunity for learning

During her period at the Naval School, Elionor will have the opportunity to expand her knowledge in the military field, with the possibility of graduating in Mechanical Engineering. The subjects, which include Maritime Law, Naval History, Calculus and Physics, will be his main focus, and he will need to pass with good grades to achieve his goal.

Intense rhythm and demand

The commander of the School, Pedro Cardona, has shared a letter with the future students, warning about the demands of a year that promises to be intense. The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, has expressed her satisfaction with the fact that Elionor will be treated like any other student. However, it remains to be seen whether this claim will translate into a truly equitable experience.

A schedule marked by discipline

Elionor’s schedule will begin at 6:45 a.m., with a day that includes both physical activity and theoretical classes, divided into five hours in the morning and three more in the afternoon. Rules of order and discipline are rigorous, including moments of silence that characterize military academic life. At weekends, he will be allowed to spend the night outside, but it is not yet clear whether he will return to Madrid to see his family or stay with his teammates.
