An unmissable event for castle lovers

From November 27 to 30, Vilafranca del Penedès will become the epicenter of the casteller world with the fourth edition of the Castells Cinema Festival (FCC). This event, organized by Revista Castells, in collaboration with the Vilafranca City Council, the Pinnae Foundation and Vinseum, will offer a wide range of audiovisual productions focused on casteller culture.

A content-rich programming

With around thirty films, this year’s festival stands out for its diversity, including both works made by casteller groups and productions from channels such as La Xarxa, which has become a benchmark in audiovisual coverage of castells. Among the documentaries that can be seen are high-quality pieces that explore both the history and social impact of castells.

Opening with an exclusive preview

The festival will begin with the premiere of a 12-minute fragment of the documentary ‘El Gran Teatre del Liceu, plaça castellera’, directed by Jordi Aymerich and Jordi Escofet. In addition, ‘Al Cim’, a work that narrates the efforts of the Greens in the 2022 Competition, will be exhibited, promising to excite the public with its images and testimonies.

Dialogues and debates: enriching the experience

In addition to the screenings, the festival offers a unique opportunity to participate in dialogues and live presentations. The podcast ‘La Figuereta’ will hold a special session, while Francesc Valls will share the results of a study on the social perception of castles in Catalonia. In addition, emblematic figures from the Casteller world will discuss the significant end of the 1974 season.

A varied program for all audiences

FCC 2024 includes sessions dedicated to education, with screenings for school children, as well as documentaries that address historical and emotional aspects of gangs. The variety of films presented reflects the richness of Castella’s tradition and its impact on today’s society.

Key dates and locations

The activities will take place in different spaces in Vilafranca, with all events being free of charge. This is a great opportunity for those who want to delve deeper into the culture of castells and enjoy a unique experience.

A promising future for castles

With its varied offer, the Festival Cinema Castells not only seeks to celebrate tradition, but also to promote its evolution and adaptation in the modern context. At a time when castellan culture continues to grow, this festival is presented as an essential platform for its dissemination and recognition.
