‘I was overcome with happiness at the end of the final,’ she recalls. Martina describes the moment when the final whistle blew, leaving the pent-up tension behind and allowing her to enjoy the collective joy. ‘Seeing our loved ones in the stands, some crying with emotion, was a moment I will never forget.’

Martina considers the tournament to be ‘the dream of any athlete’. Despite her impeccable record, she and her team were self-critical. ‘We knew there were aspects to improve, but we believed in our plan and that led us to victory,’ she says with determination.
Challenges along the way
He recalls the difficult moments, especially the semi-final match against the Netherlands, where the pressure was palpable. ‘We worked hard on our mental strength to overcome those critical moments,’ he explains, stressing the importance of psychological preparation in high-performance sport.
The Olympic experience
Beyond the competition, Martina describes the Olympic Village as a fascinating environment. ‘Being surrounded by other elite athletes was inspiring. Every day I met great athletes, which made the experience even more special,’ she enthuses.
Moments of camaraderie
The distractions in the Villa also played an important role. ‘We had access to all kinds of sports and recreational activities. It was easy to get lost in the excitement of watching others compete,’ she recalls. Interactions with other sports stars, such as Zverev and Alcaraz, were also memorable.
Return home and new challenges
Upon returning to Barcelona, Martina was warmly welcomed by her family and the media. ‘After almost three weeks away from home, seeing my mother was a relief,’ she shares. Although winning gold has heightened her experience, she stresses that the experience itself was already incredible.

With the new season upon us, Martina is ready to face new challenges with her club. ‘The team has strengthened and we have great aspirations,’ she says, showing her enthusiasm and determination to win more titles in the coming year.
