Start of Works for the Igualada Gate

Recently, work has begun on the Porta d’Igualada, a new entrance that will connect the city with the Via Blava, a project under development that extends from Jorba to La Pobla de Claramunt.

The Blue Route: An Innovative Project

This initiative, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council, is funded by the European Union through Next Generation funds. The Via Blava seeks to restore and improve historic river routes, preserving the region’s cultural and landscape heritage, while facilitating access to the sea in a renovated natural environment.

Objectives and Benefits of the Blue Route

The Blue Paths not only aim to unite territories, but also to revitalize river ecosystems and offer an accessible and healthy space for the community. This project constitutes an opportunity to rediscover local biodiversity and promote outdoor activities.

Improvements to the Igualada Gate

Jordi Marcè, Councilor for Sustainability and Tourism of Igualada, has presented the improvements that will be implemented at the Porta d’Igualada. This renovation will not only include the adaptation of the space, but also the creation of a greener and more accessible environment.

Key Elements of the Project

Among the highlighted actions is the removal of the wooden railing that limited the space, creating a more fluid connection between the city and nature. A new linear bench, water fountains and solar streetlights will also be installed, as well as shaded areas with native trees.

Economic and Social Impact

With a budget of €246,857, this project is considered a priority for the Barcelona Provincial Council, which seeks to recover and renaturalize the Anoia River. Marcè highlights that this action represents a significant step towards a natural space that promotes health and biodiversity.

Blue Paths: A Sustainable Initiative

The Blue Paths project is an ambition that seeks to connect more than 250 kilometers of river paths through 49 municipalities in seven counties. This network not only promotes sustainable tourism, but also enhances non-motorized mobility, thus benefiting the local economy and the environment.

A Promising Future

The Anoia Blue Trail is not only a physical path, but a bridge to a future where nature and community coexist in harmony. Efforts to recover and preserve river ecosystems are a step towards a more sustainable and resilient world.
