The PRC denounces the delay in payments to ranchers
The Regionalist Parliamentary Group has expressed its concern about the delay in payments to Cantabria ranchers, calling the Government negligent in this regard.
According to the deputy and spokesperson of the PRC in Rural Development, Guillermo Blanco, the Buruaga Government has failed to comply with the payments corresponding to the Common Agrarian Policy (CAP), which has generated difficulties for hundreds of ranchers in the region.
Blanco has highlighted that, at this point in the year, many ranchers have barely received 50% of the payments that correspond to them, when they should have received 100%. In addition, there are those who have not yet received any amount from the CAP.
PRC proposals to improve the situation
Given this situation, the PRC will present a non-legal proposal in Parliament to demand the immediate payment of the amounts owed. In addition, it will propose a shock plan aimed at improving the situation of the primary sector, in line with the demands of the producers themselves.
Among the proposed measures is increasing compensation to compensate for damage caused by the wolf, as well as improving insurance policies to ensure full coverage of losses.
In addition, an increase in aid from the CAP strategic plan is requested in areas with natural limitations, with the aim of improving the conditions of pastures and agri-environmental subsidies.
The PRC also advocates for aid to confront new diseases, such as Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, and settle outstanding arrears. The need to increase funds to prevent this type of evil is highlighted.
Finally, emphasis is placed on the execution of the Rural Development Plan (PDR) with the economic planning provided for in the budgets of the autonomous community, to counteract the decrease in funds from the new CAP destined for the modernization of facilities, the incorporation of young people and aid to Leader groups, among other aspects.
Claim for the role of Parliament and criticism of Teresa Ribera
The PRC also highlights the role played by the Parliament of Cantabria in the agreement of the Congress of Deputies to review the inclusion of the wolf in the List of Protected Species (LESPRE).
Furthermore, deputy Guillermo Blanco has criticized the appointment of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, as a PSOE candidate for the European elections, expressing his opinion that Ribera should have left her position sooner.
The PRC has reiterated its reproach to Ribera for the negative impact on the rural areas of the autonomous communities affected by the presence of the wolf, without understanding, according to Blanco, the suffering of the ranchers.
