The chartered educational centers of Sóller find a solution

The two joint educational centers in Sóller aim to provide a solution to the lack of school places that affects the municipality. Both the Sacred Hearts School (Es Convent) and the Sant Vicenç de Paül School (La Caritat) have presented their projects to the Ministry to adapt the classrooms to stage 0-3 and offer a total of 74 new places for the next school year 2024/25.

Implementation of new educational lines

The proposal of the two schools is to implement a new line of education for children aged 0 to 3 years in each centre. This will make it possible to solve the problems faced by families who need school places. Each center could offer up to 37 places, which would mean a total of 74 new places for the municipality of Sóller.

Need for help for remodeling

To carry out the necessary remodeling, the two educational centers need access to a line of aid for the conversion of concerted centers. Unfortunately, this helpline is not yet available for interested centers. The schools hope that this situation will be resolved soon so that they can start the works and have the classrooms operational by next September.

Visit of the Minister of Education

The Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, visited the two agreed educational centers to get to know their facilities and talk to the principals and teachers. During the visit, the councilor announced that all schools will have a psychologist for the next school year, who will support the guidance department.

Commitment to the families of the Valley

The visits of the Minister of Education to the educational centers of Sóller have highlighted the concern of families about the problem of the lack of school places. The two colleges are working to solve this situation and hope to be able to count on the necessary help to carry out the works and offer the new places from next year.
