The Council of Mallorca starts the participatory process

The Council of Mallorca has started this Monday the participatory process to present the nominations for the Awards, Honors and Distinctions that will be held on September 12. This process allows citizens and councils to present their proposals to recognize the work done by people and entities in favor of Mallorca and its citizens.

Honorary distinctions

The Awards, Honors and Distinctions established by the Council of Mallorca include several honorary distinctions. The Medal of Honor and Gratitude of the Island of Mallorca is a distinction that can be awarded to individuals, corporations and public or private collective entities. In addition, there are the distinctions of Favorite daughter or favorite son of the Island of Mallorca, intended for people born in Mallorca, and Adoptive daughter or adopted son of the Island of Mallorca, intended for people not born in Mallorca. The Diploma of Honorary Services is also awarded to official or labor personnel who have distinguished themselves in the fulfillment of their services to the corporation. Finally, there are the Jaume II Awards, which recognize those people or entities that have excelled in the promotion of symbols, historical references or the name of Mallorca during the year 2023.

The recognition of the work in favor of Mallorca

The Councilor of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, has emphasized that these awards are a token of appreciation for the career of those people who work to improve Mallorca and promote its name. Through this recognition, the work done by the people and entities that contribute to the development and well-being of the island is valued.

Citizen participation and councils

During the participatory process, citizens and councils will be able to submit their proposals through a form enabled on the Mallorca Council website. This is an opportunity for everyone to express their opinions and suggestions about the people or entities they consider deserving of this recognition. The deadline for submitting proposals will end on May 17.

Approval in the Plenary of the Council of Mallorca

Once the participatory process has been completed, the proposals will be reviewed by the councilors of the Council of Mallorca. The approval of the candidatures will take place in the Plenary of the Council of Mallorca, and the awards will be presented in a ceremony that will take place on September 12.
