An Unforgettable Event for Young Athletes
From December 6th to 8th, the Reial Club Polo de Barcelona will be transformed into an epicenter of sporting activity, hosting the 37th edition of the prestigious International Hockey Tournament of La Immaculada. With the participation of more than 1,300 young athletes between the ages of 7 and 14, this tournament stands out as one of the most significant in Europe in the field of grassroots sports.
A Celebration of Sports Diversity
Athletes from 24 different clubs come together in this competition, representing countries such as England, France, Belgium, Northern Ireland and Italy, as well as several Spanish cities, including Madrid and Valencia. This diversity not only enriches the tournament, but also fosters an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie among the participants.
Promoting Values Through Sport
Carlos Ávila, tournament director, emphasizes that the main objective goes beyond competition. “We want the boys and girls not only to fight to win, but also to learn to value friendship, solidarity and sportsmanship. We have introduced a sticker album to facilitate interaction and knowledge among them,” he says.
Inclusivity: A Priority in the Tournament
One of the most outstanding features of this edition is the hockey + category, which allows the participation of children with disabilities. With five teams competing, the aim is to offer an inclusive and supportive environment. “Children will have more opportunities to interact and share experiences during the games,” explains Ávila.
Tribute to Sports References
This year, the tournament pays tribute to two outstanding athletes who shone at the recent Paris Olympic Games: Luis Calzado and Marta Segú. “They are role models for all young athletes. Their success is a testament to the fact that dedication and passion can lead to the achievement of dreams,” says the director.
A Future Full of Expectations
With the active collaboration of the club members and a large number of volunteers, this tournament is not only a competition, but a true hockey celebration, where every boy and girl can feel valued and part of a community. The impact of this event is reflected in the creation of unforgettable memories and the formation of bonds of friendship that will last beyond the playing field.
