A decisive step for healthcare modernization
Alcoi City Council has completed the necessary procedures to allow the Valencian Government to begin the long-awaited reform and expansion of the Mare de Déu dels Lliris Hospital. In the next plenary session, scheduled for February, the Specific Modification of the General Urban Planning Plan will be voted on, a crucial procedure that will increase the building capacity of the hospital plot.
A project with a significant investment
2022 marked the start of a Master Plan for the Hospital, with a planned investment of 82 million euros until 2032. This plan includes the expansion of the built area to 47,567 m², a 40% increase over the current space, as well as the renovation of existing facilities and the creation of new buildings that will complement healthcare services.
Improvements for quality healthcare
The renovation not only seeks to increase the physical space, but also to improve the quality of healthcare for the 136,000 residents of the 32 municipalities that depend on this center. With the modernization, the hospital aspires to become a model of healthcare infrastructure that adapts to current and future needs.
A commitment to public health
Since its inauguration in 1972, the hospital has undergone several transformations, but it still has deficiencies that affect its functionality. The councilor for Urban Planning, Vanessa Moltó, has underlined the importance of this expansion, highlighting that it is a need that has been requested for a long time by both citizens and health authorities.
Collaboration between administrations
The Alcoi City Council has expressed its gratitude to the Generalitat Valenciana for its vision and dedication in implementing this essential project for the well-being of the community. It is hoped that the works can begin soon, once the final administrative procedures are completed.
A promising future for the hospital
With this reform, Alcoy will not only improve its healthcare infrastructure, but will also be better prepared to face the public health challenges of the future, guaranteeing quality care for all its citizens.
