A new chapter for Vinterberg
Renowned Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, known for his Oscar-winning work ‘Druk’, will make a special appearance at the 11th edition of the Serielizados Fest in Barcelona. On this occasion, Vinterberg will present his latest series, entitled ‘Familias como la nuestra’, which can be seen on Movistar Plus+ from November, after an exclusive screening in the county town, which will follow its premiere at the Festival of Venice
A disturbing plot
This new production is set in near-future Denmark, in which the country is forced to evacuate due to devastating floods. ‘Familias como la nuestra’ is presented as a deeply moving family drama, which explores the survival dynamics of a society in crisis and the struggle to maintain roots in times of desolation.
A journey through the director’s past
Vinterberg, who made a name for himself within the Dogme 95 movement with films such as ‘Festen’ (1998), has maintained a radical approach to his work, fusing dense subject matter with powerful visual storytelling. From his beginnings with ‘The Biggest Heroes’ (1996) to notable works like ‘The Hunt’ (2012), his style has evolved, but always with a commitment to emotional veracity.
A stellar cast
For ‘Familias como la nuestra’, Vinterberg has assembled a cast of renowned talents, including Amaryllis August, Albert Rudbeck Lindhardt, and Paprika Steen, who have already collaborated with him on previous projects. This series promises to fuse his distinctive style with a narrative that resonates with contemporary concerns about the environment and global crises.
A festival full of surprises
The Serializados Fest, which will be held from October 14 to 23, will not only have the presence of Vinterberg. The festival will include a masterclass directed by the filmmaker, moderated by Clara Roquet, and will be carried out in collaboration with the Madrid School of Cinematography and Audiovisual (ECAM).

The event will take place in various locations in Barcelona, including the CCCB, Phenomena and CASA SEAT, with a new addition, Espai Texas. On September 4, the festival will announce more details about Vinterberg’s participation and other activities with international guests. Tickets and passes will be available from that date.
