Claims for Full Employment
On Wednesday, in Valencia, the demonstration of May 1, International Labor Day, was held, with the participation of approximately 5,000 people, according to the Delegation of the Government of the Valencian Community. The unions CCOO-PV and UGT-PV have called this event, where they have claimed ‘full employment’ and the reduction of the working day from 40 to 32 hours per week.
Tour and Demonstrations
The march started in Plaça de Sant Agustí and continued through the streets of the center of Valencia under the slogan ‘For full employment: less work, more wages’. The demonstrators have traveled the Sant Vicent and Periodista Azzati streets, the Town Hall square, as well as other roads until reaching Navarro Reverter, where the manifestos of the convening unions have been read.
Additional Claims
Through the manifestos, they have called not only for full employment and the reduction of working hours, but also for a public response to crisis situations and massive participation in the upcoming European elections. These demands include the request for more labor and social rights.
Political Participation
Political figures such as the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, as well as other representatives of different political parties have also participated in the march.
Proclamations and Posters
The demonstrators carried banners and posters with messages such as ‘We have the power to change things’, ‘Against inequality, quality public services’, ‘Not a step back’ and ‘Work less, live better’. During the march, proclamations such as ‘collective dismissal of the executives’, ‘either with the management, or with the working class’, and ‘long live the struggle of the working class’ were repeated.
