A year of great changes in Vilafranca
2025 promises to be a dynamic year for Vilafranca, with a series of investment projects that will transform the city. With more than 30 actions scheduled, the aim is to improve urban infrastructure and public services for all citizens.
Investment works in public facilities and spaces
Among the outstanding actions, there is the construction of new public facilities and the renovation of several streets. A comprehensive reform is planned on five main roads, as well as the improvement of sidewalks on seven streets, to facilitate mobility and accessibility.
Improvements in the water network
Taking advantage of the redevelopment works, the water supply and sanitation network will also be updated, an essential step to guarantee an efficient and sustainable service.
Boost for sustainable mobility
One of the most innovative projects is the creation of a bike lane that will connect Vilafranca with Granada. This route, designed under the 2-1 model, will prioritize the use of bicycles and personal mobility vehicles (VMP) over motorized vehicles, thus contributing to a reduction in pollution.
The support of the Generalitat
The Generalitat is collaborating in the construction of this lane, which will extend over a stretch of approximately two kilometers, improving access to the area.
Emblematic projects underway
Among the projects that have already entered the bidding phase, the redevelopment of Santa Magdalena, Bisbe Estalella and Santa Fe streets stands out. The rehabilitation project for Sant Pere Street is also expected to begin this year.
New library and sports renovation
One of the most significant projects is the construction of a new library in the Molí d’en Rovira, with an investment of 3.7 million euros, as well as the planned improvements to the Hockey Pavilion, which will receive 1,286,000 euros for the renovation of the changing rooms and stands.
Rehabilitation of historical heritage
The demolition of the old Civil Guard barracks and the rehabilitation of the Cal Bolet Theatre are other key projects that are expected to take shape in the coming months, reflecting the city’s commitment to its history and culture.
Institutional collaboration
Many of these projects are co-financed by the City Council, the Generalitat, the Provincial Council and European funds, thus ensuring a well-distributed and effective investment for the common good.
