Sunny and warm on the coast Friday
Catalonia’s weather continues to be anomalous for the time of year we are in. After a Thursday with sun in almost the entire territory – except for some areas of Lleida, which have cloudy skies – the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) forecasts similar days, nearing the end of the month of January, with a predominance of sun and some maximum temperatures that will exceed 20 degrees.
No rain is expected for Friday, and the Catalan coast will enjoy a clear weekend with almost summer temperatures, unusual in January. In places on the Costa Brava, temperatures can reach 23 or 24 degrees, especially in the Empordà. The Meteocat also indicates that in the south of the country it will be possible to reach a maximum of 24 degrees, as in Tortosa. As for the minimums, they will vary depending on the place, with counties in the interior and the north of the country that can go down to one degree. In the afternoon, temperatures will remain in a similar range, but clouds can be seen along the coast of the country, especially on the central coast. The rain, however, will not be noticeable, although the Meteorological Service predicts some light precipitation due to the fog in Ponent and the Ebro valley.
Saturday colder on the coast and inland
Temperatures will experience a noticeable drop during Saturday, when the maximum will be below 20 degrees. The change will be particularly noticeable in the districts of the central coast, where the maximum will not exceed 14 degrees; as well as in the interior, with 13 degrees in Noguera or 11 in Segrià. The Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, on the other hand, will remain in values similar to those of Friday, with few clouds and mostly clear skies. Regions such as Ripollès and Garrotxa, in fact, will be able to reach a maximum of 20 degrees, just like the 19 that will be noticed in Pla de l’Estany. You will only be able to see some clouds in areas of Garraf and Baix Llobregat, as well as in the regions of Lleida. The minimums, as in the case of Friday, will occur in the interior and in the Pyrenees, especially in Alt Urgell and Alta Ribagorça, where the temperature will drop to 0 and -1 degrees respectively. On the other hand, Barcelonès, which will remain at a maximum of 14 degrees, but will retain minimums above 10 degrees.
Weekend without weather incidents
Apart from the drop in temperatures expected for Saturday, the Meteorological Service of Catalonia does not expect any significant changes for the weekend. The sky will be partly cloudy in most of the country, while precipitation will be almost nil. The wind will be weak throughout the Catalan territory, with moments of calm especially inland, although moderate speeds could occur on the coast during the central hours of Saturday. There are no warnings of weather danger in any region; nor at sea, which will be calm in most of the territory, although more movement is expected on the Costa Brava.
