From January 8, six centers will open their doors in the afternoons for free play and the use of sports clubs
Gandia has decided to turn the playgrounds of six schools into leisure and sports spaces for the public. Thus, from January 8, the centers will open their doors in the afternoons, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., for games and healthy leisure activities and, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for use by part of sports clubs.
This measure was a commitment to the neighbors, which was embodied in the Government agreement, and is now effective, as communicated by the mayor, José Manuel Prieto, accompanied by the councilors for Education and Sports, Esther Sapena and Jesús Naveiro, respectively, during the visit to Ceip Sant Francesc de Borja, one of the six school spaces that will open alternately, in this case almost all week, from Monday to Thursday. As for the other centers, Ceip Mondúver will be available for the neighborhood community and sports clubs on Tuesday and Thursday; on Wednesday, the Ceip Cervantes, and on Friday, the Ceip Joan Martorell, Botànic Cavanilles and Joan XXIII.
The aim is to offer safe and complementary spaces for play and sport
“We believe that boys and girls should have spaces where they can play and live together safely; clubs and athletes must also be able to enjoy other complementary sports facilities. We will start with approximately two each day and the idea is to reach all the centres, so that all the boys and girls have the reference of an open playground in their neighbourhood”, said the mayor.
To guarantee safe leisure and controlled activities, the City Council, as part of an employment plan, has hired three caretakers, who will be in charge of opening and closing. An information leaflet has been published which indicates the conditions and measures to be able to enjoy these spaces.
