Two men found guilty of grievous bodily harm
David Carruthers, 61, and Janus Atkin, 37, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm during a hearing at the Old Bailey on Thursday.
Live illegal castrations on the Dark Web
A former surgical assistant carried out illegal castrations with her boyfriend and streamed them live on a lucrative ‘eunuch maker’ website, a British court heard.
Ten people found guilty of extreme surgeries
The duo was among the ten found guilty of performing illicit operations such as the removal and cutting of penises and testicles.
Gustavson, the ‘Eunuch Maker’
The procedures were carried out at the behest of Norwegian Marius Gustavson, 46, who earned up to £200,000 (€234,000) by posting videos of castrations and other extreme surgeries on the darkweb.
A practice linked to the null subculture
The practice is linked to a subculture in which men are rendered null, short for genital annulment, which consists of removing their penis and testicles.
Convictions and others involved
Prostitute Damien Brynes, 36, who removed Gustavson’s penis with a vegetable knife, has already been jailed for five years, while accomplice Jacob Crimi-Appleby, 23, was sentenced to three years and eight months to freeze his leg, which forced it to be amputated. Former nurse Nathaniel Arnold, 46, received a two-year suspended sentence for partially cutting off Gustavson’s nipple with a scalpel. Between them, the group performed at least 29 extreme body modifications, the removal of body parts and the trading of body parts with eight other men.
