The drama that is being experienced in Gaza

In a tragic development, at least 20 people have been killed and more than 150 injured during an attack on civilians who had gathered in Gaza City in the hope of receiving humanitarian aid. The main city of the Strip has been devastated due to the intense bombings and ground operations carried out by the Israeli Army.

The delivery of supplies to Gaza has been poor, which has further worsened the situation for the affected population. Although the evacuation to the south of the Palestinian enclave was ordered, some residents decided to remain in the city, thus facing the direct consequences of this bloody dispute.

A massacre that cries out for justice

Ashraf al Qudra, spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health, denounced the attack, describing it as a new massacre perpetrated by the Israeli occupation. Thousands of hungry people were desperately waiting for promised humanitarian aid at the Kuwait roundabout in Gaza City. Unfortunately, the number of fatalities will increase in the coming hours due to the seriously injured who are arriving at Al Shifa hospital, the main medical center in the Strip.

The Israeli Army has stated that it is verifying information about the attack, according to the AP news agency. Meanwhile, the offensive continues to focus on the town of Khan Younis, the second most important in Gaza and where the efforts of the ground troops are concentrated. Clashes with Hamas fighters continue to occur in the streets of this city, while the Army claims to be eliminating the terrorists and attacking the Islamist group’s command and control centers.

Impact on the civilian population

Indiscriminate violence has also reached civilian facilities, such as a UNRWA center in Khan Younis, where Israeli tank fire was reported yesterday. The death toll has increased to 12 and there are 75 people injured, of which 15 are in critical condition. Thomas White, the agency’s Gaza affairs director, has condemned these attacks, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in civilian areas.

This escalation of violence has left a devastating toll since the beginning of the war in Gaza, with approximately 25,700 people dead, most of them civilians, according to reports from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health. Additionally, more than 63,000 people have been injured and nearly two million have been forced to leave their homes due to violence and evacuation orders issued by Israel.
