A long-awaited return

The former president of ERC Oriol Junqueras has expressed his joy at the imminent return of Marta Rovira to Catalonia, after almost seven years of exile in Geneva. Junqueras highlighted that they have shared many years of political life, which were hindered by repression and exile. This return represents great satisfaction after a period of exile that highlighted the injustice suffered due to the repression against the democratic right to vote.

Emotion and poetic justice

Marta Rovira, for her part, considers that his return symbolizes a ‘certain poetic justice’, since it occurs due to a defect in form with respect to deadlines. In an interview on RAC1, she expressed her excitement at this special moment, mentioning that she had to pinch herself several times to believe it.

Reactions and apologies

The former deputy minister of the Government, Sergi Sabrià, has expressed his discontent, while Marta Rovira has avoided pointing out anyone, limiting herself to apologizing. Rovira acknowledged that she was aware of a counter-campaign, but she defended the importance of maintaining ethical principles, stressing that they should never be surpassed.
