Dates and Key Activities

The Festes de la Cinta 2024 are approaching with great anticipation, scheduled between August 28 and September 2. Before the official start, on Saturday 24 August, there will be an opening ceremony with the proclamation of the pubilles and the reading of the proclamation, by Nuri Lledó, co-founder of the Circuit de Penyes, recognized for her contribution to the organization of festive events.

Presentation of the Festive Program

Recently, the mayor of Tortosa, Jordi Jordan, together with the councilor for Festes, Dolors Bel, have revealed the program of activities that will be distributed to the population from Friday 23 August. Jordan emphasized the diversity of proposals, with more than 150 free options for all ages, designed to create an inclusive festive atmosphere.

Traditions and Novelties

Among the traditions that are maintained, the fireworks display that will close the festivities stands out, an activity that had to be suspended last year for weather reasons. In this edition, the City Flag will be presented to three outstanding entities, commemorating their respective anniversaries.

Musical and Cultural proposals

The mayor mentioned the 1st Vetllada de Rapers i Versadors EbreFolk, a new musical activity that will bring together artists from various regions, as well as the ‘Sanguinària’ dance show, which pays tribute to the history of the women of Tortosa. Both activities will bring fresh air to the festive program.

Activities for Children

The little ones will also have a special role with the installation of attractions such as a water slide and bouncy castles, as well as circus shows and performances that promise fun and entertainment. In addition, accessibility has been considered with a chocolate bar adapted for celiac children.

Social Commitment and Inclusivity

This year’s Festes de la Cinta have been designed with an inclusive approach, with services such as sign language translation at protocol events and the creation of Purple Points for the safety of all attendees. The mayor has expressed the desire to make this event a safe and respectful space for everyone.

Solidarity and Community Activities

As part of the program, the Solidarity Walk ‘Mai caminareu sols’, organized by the League Against Cancer, will also take place. This activity not only promotes physical health but also fosters community solidarity with a symbolic donation.

Peñas Circuit and Popular Participation

The Rock Climbing Circuit will be expanded with new tests, with the participation of around 1,300 rock climbing players from more than 70 rock climbing clubs, ensuring a festive and competitive atmosphere. This reinforces the tradition of active participation of citizens in the festivities.

Traditional Activities That Are Not Missing

Of course, traditional activities such as the Ebrecorrefoc, the Day of the Elderly and the Castellera Day cannot be missed, which continue to be an essential part of the celebration, remembering the roots and culture of Tortosa.
