A New Fiscal Era in Vilanova del Camí

The Vilanova del Camí Council has given the green light to the Fiscal Ordinances for 2025 in a morning session held this Wednesday. These new regulations involve the freezing of rates, including those related to waste collection, while an increase in the IBI of 2.4% is foreseen to adapt to the CPI.

Reactions and Votes: A Divided Plenary

The assembly has experienced a moment of consensus between the government, formed by PSC and Junts, which has supported the new regulations, and the favorable vote of a Vox councillor. Instead, Fem Vilanova and Vilanova365 have decided to abstain.

Key Points of the Discussion

One of the central issues in the debate has been the freezing of the waste collection rate. Jordi Barón, councilor in the government, has highlighted the importance of this measure and the adjustment of the IBI, arguing that it is essential to maintain the purchasing power of the city council in the face of expenses.

Future Perspectives

Councilwoman Vanesa González de Vilanova365 has expressed her opinion on the abstention of her party, stating that the containment effort has been recognized, although the significant increase already took place the previous year and that there the possibility of it happening again if the council does not adjust its finances before 2025.

Reflections on the IBI

Judit Gómez of Fem Vilanova has celebrated that the increase in the IBI is not accompanied by an increase in the garbage rate. However, he has warned that it will be necessary to adjust this rate in the future to cover 100% of the costs of the service, currently only covered by 92%.

The Mayor’s Opinion

In response to criticism from the opposition, Mayor Noemí Trucharte has expressed her hope that the signing of a joint contract with Igualada and Montbui will increase the cost coverage of the waste collection service from 92% to 100% .
