An opportunity to learn about the future professional
Students in the 4th year of ESO at Camprodon have the opportunity to meet a professional who explains and advises them on what their future profession could be. This mentoring project is promoted by the Vall de Camprodon Community Foundation. According to the project coordinator, Jaume Bertranpetit, this initiative is very interesting for students, as it allows them to discover different professions and obtain guidance in making decisions about their future career (https://www.softcatala.org/resum -of-texts-in-Catalan/).
A range of in-demand professions
Although the project started last year, several different professions have already applied. Some of the professions that students have expressed interest in are F1 engineer and electromechanical professional. This variety of in-demand professions demonstrates the wide range of possibilities students are considering for their futures.
The positive impact of mentoring
Students who have participated in this mentoring project have expressed their satisfaction and the benefits they have gained. One of the young participants, Cesc Ibáñez, has highlighted how the mentoring has helped him focus better on his professional path. At first, he had no idea what he wanted to do, but thanks to the mentoring he has been able to make a more informed decision (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
The importance of mentoring in the Vall de Camprodon
In the Vall de Camprodon, this mentoring project has been a response to the need for young people to decide on their professional future. Mentoring gives students the opportunity to talk with professionals outside the school and family, who have worked in fields related to the professions the students want to learn about. This interaction allows students to share their concerns and doubts, and get guidance to explore the different career options they have (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
The mentors and their role in the project
Mentors are professionals who have been selected to participate in this mentoring project. One of the mentors is Marià Morer, manager of a mechanical workshop in Camprodon. Morer highlighted the importance of this project to make up for the lack of practical learning and to help young people explore their passions and professional interests. According to Morer, having someone to guide and mentor them is essential for young people in making decisions about their future.
Positive experiences for students
Students who have participated in this mentoring project have had very positive experiences. For example, Cesc Ibáñez had the opportunity to meet a mechanic and discover his passion for electromechanics. This experience has helped him make a more informed decision about his future career. In addition, other students have had the opportunity to meet professionals from different fields and discover new career possibilities (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
The final goal of the project
The ultimate goal of this mentoring project is to encourage all Vall de Camprodon students to continue studying and exploring their career options. Through mentoring, the aim is to awaken vocations and discover professional profiles that the students may not have known about. The purpose of this initiative is for students to find extra motivation to study and follow their professional dreams.
