New revelations about Transvulcania: Millionaire supply contract and questioned transparency

The Popular Group and the millionaire contract

The Popular Group in the Cabildo of La Palma, through counselor Nieves Hernández, has released relevant information about Transvulcania. According to Hernández, the public company Sodepal has put up for sale a supply contract for this sporting event for an amount of 158,000 euros. These statements come after the aforementioned contract has been put out to tender.

Hernández explains that this contract presents a significant number of concepts unified in a single document, which suggests that it is custom designed for a specific company, limiting opportunities for other companies on the island. Among the requirements demanded of interested companies is the need to have an insurance policy of 300,000 euros. In addition, it is intended to hire a single company to provide 60 vehicles, 22 trucks with cold equipment and more than 6,400 kilos of ice, among other services.

Questions about transparency and equity in hiring

From the Popular Party, a concern is raised about transparency and equity in the hiring process. It is argued that the inclusion of such diverse concepts in a single lot, which ranges from the contracting of advertising supports and printing of canvases and posters to vehicles, ice, sound and lighting, assembly and disassembly services, support personnel, trophies or textiles , limits opportunities for small businesses that cannot compete on equal terms. This raises questions about the real transparency of the process.

In addition, it is emphasized that contracts of this amount must be tendered through the profile that Sodepal has on the public sector contracting platform, a practice that was established in 2019 despite the fact that the law has required this since 2017. This reminder is addressed to the nationalists, urging them to comply with the rules of the game.

Criticisms of the management of the Cabildo of La Palma

The popular ones express their concern about the direction that the Cabildo of La Palma is taking, pointing out that it is moving away from the needs of the citizens. The case of La Palma Blue Experience is mentioned, in which half a million euros were spent through a sponsorship contract awarded directly, and it is feared that a similar situation will be repeated with Transvulcania. What is perceived as a double standard is criticized, where the actions in the government do not reflect the positions defended by the opposition.

In summary, these revelations raise serious questions about transparency and fairness in the contracting process in the context of Transvulcania, as well as about the general management of the Cabildo de La Palma.
