Santfeliuencs: A Song of Audacity
For Pajarraco CB Santfeliuenc, provocation is an art, a dance of skill and audacity. Itai Levy’s pupils have embroidered a page of glory, ensuring their permanence in La Plata after beating Prat by a resounding 87 to 97. An indisputable success, the result of a project that, with limited but wisely used resources, has reaped extraordinary results .
Against one of the great contenders for promotion to LEB Or, the blues shone with their own light. Twenty minutes of a dream -from 10 to 30-, which marked a resounding victory, mathematically renewing their continuity in the LEB Plata and opening the doors to the fight for the play off for promotion to LEB Or against Gran Canaria in the farewell of the regular league at the Juan Carlos Navarro next Saturday, April 6.
A Thursday of Glory: The Recipe for Success
For a glorious Thursday, the recipe was clear: banish complexes. The first minutes were a balance of forces, a demonstration of competitive conviction. Castellón masterfully directed the game, setting the pace, while Zanca was solid and Coward regained the lead (6-12, minute 4).
However, the power of the locals was known, and any concession could be fatal. A basket by Sese and another by former Sam Taiwo in the reunion put the Blue Pota ahead (18-16). But the final 90 seconds were a window to excitement: baskets from Olivier, Zanca and two projectiles from Brià from 6.75 turned the scoreboard blue in the 10th minute (18-26).
The Flight of the Bird: An Unstoppable Rise
CBS was hitting hard. The blue squid could not find their rhythm, while Santfeliuenc grew and grew as the second act progressed. Cowart marked distances in attack, Castellón defended, nullifying the rival’s offensive creation and Gerard Martínez, in the final stretch, became strong in the offensive paint to pierce the resistance of the Pratenque towers.
El Pajarraco began to take a flight that evoked other glorious days. Rest (36-48).
Ten Minutes of Ecstasy
The numerous Sant Feliuencs fans who traveled to Joan Busquets will keep in their memory the ten most splendid minutes of the 23/24 league. Two baskets from Cowart and one from the Georgian Natsvlishvili extended the lead (38-54). And minutes of fairytale basketball followed.
Santfeliuenc was an orchestra well directed by Castellón, a master in a thousand battles, and supported by a determined and unblocking Olivier, with Cowart surpassing the great star Frey in attack – with minutes in the ACB with Joventut – and taking advantage of the defense without help that the locals offered, and the Georgian Natsvlishvili demonstrating his quality with an excellent command of the extrafield and the collective sense of the game.
The blues bit on the court, hit the scoreboard and vibrated with a result that acquired explosive overtones. A 1+1 converted by Adrià Codinachs blew up Joan Busquets’ giant scoreboard: 39-67 (minute 27). Seeing is believing. Santfeliuenc had permanence within reach.
However, the locals were growing in attack. Quality always ends up coming to light. Santfeliuenc closed the most wonderful quarter of the season with a signature basket from Cowart to sign a dazzling quarter and a spectacular score: 54-76.
Resist to Win and Touch the Sky
It was time to resist, resist, resist because the prize was enormous, colossal, incalculable. The locals did not want to lose without leaving the seal of quality of a team with experienced players in professional basketball and with minutes in the ACB. The Togolese Soumbey Alley began to find the basket and the pressing defense and certain nerves due to the abysmal vertigo of a definitive victory were noticeable.
Although the distance was significant enough to control the time and the scoreboard, everyone looked with mercy on the minutes that seemed eternal and moved slowly. The Pratenques signed a partial of 30-17 that reduced the score below the psychological border of ten points (84-93 with one minute left), which was reduced to only six (87-93) when Sese translated into a basket three free throws after a disputed foul with 50 seconds left.
A certain suspense that two free throws by Jaume Zanca resolved to sing an infinite victory on a Thursday, March 28, embroidered in silver of continuity in the third category of Spanish basketball.
Minute 41: A Tribute to Heroes
We will venerate the name of these professionals who have completed the adventure that began on May 12, 2023 in Huelva. We will admire a coach, Itai Levy, who has sealed an admirable commitment and career with his permanence.
We will recognize a board chaired by Josan Daban who has believed in a professional basketball project in Sant Feliu, and has given everything so that the La Plata train continues to pass through the city.
We will thank a sponsor, Pajarraco, who has allowed us to fly very high, advance to Silver and continue in the bronze division.
And next Saturday, April 6, we will say goodbye to a regular league that has excited us and that can still give us the byes dressed as qualifying rounds for promotion to LEB Or. In case anyone still doesn’t know: the Pajarraco CB Santfeliuenc will once again take to the skies of La Plata.
