The general director of Barcelona Tourism, Mateu Hernández, and the head of Renfe’s high-speed area, Javier Pérez, have established a fundamental agreement to promote the use of the railway in the context of the America’s Cup. The signing ceremony took place at the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2024.

Turisme de Barcelona will play a key role in the promotion of Renfe services, incorporating them in its publications and highlighting them at events, fairs and congresses. In exchange, Renfe will participate in the dissemination of cultural activities promoted by the tourist organization. This agreement, according to the operator, seeks to take advantage of the Copa América as a unique opportunity to position Barcelona as a tourist destination.
Innovative Railway Initiatives
Renfe, in collaboration with the Diputació de Barcelona, aims to develop new thematic tourist train routes. This initiative, which will continue the success achieved in 2023, was announced during Fitur by the president of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, Lluïsa Moret, and the director of Renfe, Raül Blanco.
