Dani Alves’ request for freedom
Today, at 9:20 a.m., the hearing took place in section 21 of the Barcelona Court to consider the request of the defense of footballer Dani Alves to be released. The defense has argued that Alves can be released despite the fact that the sentence is not yet final, as he has served a quarter of the sentence and has roots in Barcelona. The prosecution, however, opposes this request, arguing that the sentence is not yet final and that there is a risk that Alves will flee. Both the private prosecution and the prosecutor are also opposed to his freedom pending appeals against the conviction. The court will make a decision soon.
The parole debate
Dani Alves’ defense has raised the possibility of granting him conditional freedom, arguing that his sentence of four and a half years is considerably less than the requests of the prosecution. This question has generated an intense debate between the parties involved, with opposing positions on the suitability of this measure in the case of Alves.
The presence of the parties in the hearing
The Prosecutor’s Office, the lawyers for the prosecution and the defense attended the hearing, while Dani Alves followed it by video conference from the penitentiary of Brians 2, in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Barcelona).
