A year full of classical music

The city of Barcelona is preparing to experience an unforgettable musical experience between October 2025 and May 2026, with the celebration of the 42nd edition of the Ibercamera season. This edition promises to fill the stage with some of the leading artists in the current music scene.

The launch of the season

The starting shot will take place on November 5 at the Palau de la Música, with a recital of the prestigious pianist Martha Argerich accompanied by Nelson Goerner. This will mark the beginning of a series of concerts that will include great names and masterpieces of classical music.

Highlights of January

January will be a month of great musical intensity with two events at the Palau. On the 16th, Maria João Pires will join forces with the Camerata Salzburg to perform pieces by Haydn and Mozart. Later, on the 26th, the sopranist Bruno de Sa and the Ensemble 1700, under the baton of the flutist Dorothée Oberlinger, will present a program dedicated to Baroque music, with works by Scarlatti, Bonocini, Marcello, Corelli and Handel.

A month of February full of surprises

In February he promised strong emotions with two performances by director Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra, Musicerna. The first, on October 21, will be a gala dedicated to Rameau at the Palau, while on February 2 they will offer a version of ‘The Wagner’s Ring without words’ in the Auditorium.

An unpublished concert with Zukerman

On February 23, the violinist Fumiaki Miura will meet with the Symphony Warsovia and the violinist Pinchas Zukerman, who will be presented for the first time as a violinist, violist and director at a single concert. They will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Dvorak, promising a unique performance.

March: a month of great classics

In March, music lovers will enjoy the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alain Altinoglu, which will offer the ninth Mahler Symphony on the 23rd, and the Passion according to Sant Mateu de Bach, under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe and his Collegium Vocale, on the 30th.

A spectacular closure

The season will culminate in a concert by the Pianist Varvara, who will perform the last three sonatas by Beethoven. We will also have the performance of the soprano Christiane Karg and the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne, under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with a program that will include works by Wagner, Strauss and Mahler’s first symphony.

Waited for Valeri Guérguiev

In addition, an extraordinary concert is added to the program with Valeri Guérguiev, artistic director of the Mariitian ballet, who will return to Barcelona after years of absence. The date and program of this special event are still to be confirmed, but their return is expected with great enthusiasm, especially in the context of the current situation between Russia and Ukraine.

With such a rich and varied program, the Ibercamera season not only promises to entertain, but also to enrich Barcelona’s musical culture at a key moment.
