An innovative program for awareness

Cambrils City Council is starting a new edition of the Days for the Promotion of Healthy Relationships and the Eradication of Gender-Based Violence, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This event, which will be held between November 19 and 28, seeks to raise awareness among the population about the need to foster relationships based on equality and respect.

The impact of sexist violence

Gemma Balanyà, Councilor for Equality, and Mònica Romano, Equality technician, have highlighted the importance of continuing with these initiatives, given that sexist violence remains an alarming reality. Since 2003, 1,282 women have been murdered in Spain, leaving a legacy of pain and orphanhood among the affected families.

Various activities for all audiences

This year’s program includes a wide range of activities, adapted to different ages and interests. The proposals range from storytelling sessions for the little ones to workshops and talks focused on mental health and co-education, with the aim of creating a space for dialogue and reflection.

Key moment: International Day for the Eradication of Violence

November 25 is one of the highlights of the conference, with several commemorative activities scheduled. The most outstanding event will be the reading of a manifesto in the town hall square, with the participation of students from secondary education centers in Cambrils, an opportunity to unite voices and claim the right to live in a free environment of violence

Cinema and culture for awareness

Cinema will also play an important role in these days, with the screening of the film ‘Lobo’, which addresses the issue of gender violence through the story of Sara and her dog. This film will be shown in the municipal cinema, with a symbolic price, to facilitate access for all citizens.

A continuous commitment to equality

With this program, Cambrils City Council reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness against sexist violence and promoting values of respect and gender equality. The conferences not only seek to inform, but also to inspire positive changes in society.

A future in equality

With scheduled activities that encourage participation and learning, Cambrils is approaching a future where healthy and egalitarian relationships are the norm, and where each individual can live without fear of violence. The community is mobilizing, showing that education and awareness are key to tackling this problem.
