New Educational Horizon: EscolAQUA Expands its Borders

Introduction to EscolAQUA Expansion

The start of the 2024-2025 school year marks a significant moment for the EscolAQUA project, an initiative of the Empresa Municipal Mixta d’Aigües de Tarragona. With the addition of three new schools, the program expands its influence and commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

New Participating Educational Centers

The schools of Bonavista, Campclar and Pau Delclòs join a group already made up of seven schools, a high school and two kindergartens in Tarragona, the Pallaresos, the Catllar and the Canonja, which work together for a responsible consumption of l water

Meeting of Impulse and Commitment

Recently, a meeting at the Ematsa headquarters brought together officials from the participating schools, with the prominent presence of Tarragona’s Minister of Education, Isabel Mascaró, and the director of the Municipal Institute of Education, Clàudia Aznar. Mascaró praised the schools’ commitment to the project, underlining their role as a driver of change in raising awareness about the use of tap water.

Course Activities and Objectives

During this course, the activities planned for EscolAQUA seek to raise awareness among the educational community about the environmental consequences of bottled water, while promoting the regular use of tap water. Students will participate in workshops, visits to Ematsa facilities, forums and even theater performances.

Innovative Educational Tools

One of the highlights of this course is the introduction of personalized learning boxes, which offer innovative educational experiences about the water cycle, combining learning with games and teamwork.

Previous Results and Impact

In its previous edition, EscolAQUA managed to carry out 249 hours of activities focused on water, involving nearly 4,300 students. This edition demonstrated its potential to educate and sensitize new generations on the importance of responsible water use.

As the course progresses, the impact of EscolAQUA will continue to grow, fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental awareness among young people. The active participation of educational centers is essential to ensure that the message of responsible water consumption reaches households and the wider community.
