A New Approach to Auditorium Theatre

Cambrils City Council has decided to turn around the situation of the Teatre Auditori, with the aim of restarting the works that have been stopped since 2010. This initiative seeks to adapt the project to current needs and facilitate its implementation, thanks to a subsidy of 125,000 euros provided by the Provincial Council of Tarragona.

Execution and Sustainability Phases

The project will be developed in three stages, starting with the remodeling of the main hall. According to the councilor for Urban Planning and Public Works, Enric Daza, this new strategy aligns with sustainability and modernization criteria, with the aim of making the total investment of 8 million euros viable. “We want to transform a project that seemed impossible into a tangible reality,” said Daza.

Culture and Local Needs

The Councilor for Culture, Jordi Barberà, has stressed that the key to moving forward with this project is to resize the main hall. Although initially it will not be able to host large-format shows, the space will be designed to host a variety of stage shows. “Cambrils needed a cultural facility to constantly program theater, dance, music and cinema,” Barberà assured.

A Consolidated Cultural Programming

Barberà highlighted that the lack of cultural facilities has limited programming options in Cambrils, but now, with the reactivation of the Teatre Auditori, a rich and varied cultural offer can be consolidated. “The government’s commitment to culture is reflected in the investment necessary to grow this facility,” he commented.

Details of the Works and Future of the Theater

The first phase of the works will include the creation of a main hall with a capacity for 342 spectators, as well as the necessary basic services, such as dressing rooms and make-up rooms. The renovations include paving works, electrical installations, air conditioning and other essential aspects to ensure the proper functioning of the space.

In later phases, it is planned to include rehearsal rooms, a multipurpose room and an annex building for the conservatory, all under the direction of Ramon Sanabria’s architectural firm, which brings extensive experience in the creation of cultural facilities.

A Promising Future for Cambrils

With the resumption of work on the Teatre Auditori, Cambrils is preparing to open the doors to a new cultural chapter that will satisfy the needs of its citizens. This project will not only revitalize the cultural life of the municipality, but will also serve as a platform for artistic creation and cultural exchange, reaffirming the importance of art in the community.
