A unique musical celebration

On the first Sunday of April, Lleida became a vibrant stage full of music and community, welcoming 1,200 singers from 41 different choirs from all over Catalonia. This edition of Lleida Canta, which has reached its 15th edition, was organized by the Coral Maristes Montserrat, an initiative that unites the musical culture with the local heritage.

Choirs in Dialogue with History

This year, the meeting had a special approach, with performances scheduled in emblematic places such as the new Morera Museum, the Museum of Lleida, the La Panera Art Center, and other significant spaces. The choirs, grouped into five groups, performed a repertoire designed to connect music with the cultural richness of museums.

A moment of cohesion and memory

At noon, Plaça Sant Joan vibrated with the voices of all the choirs, which jointly performed the singing of the people, dedicated to Lluís Virgili in the centenary of its birth, as well as the Hymn of Lleida sings and Els Segadors. At this time of complicity, the directors reflected the emotions of the day in a mural that symbolized the collective essence of the seventeen participating counties.

A meal full of life and culture

After the performances, a batucada led the participants to the Firal Space, where they shared a large rice casserole and a festive table full of music and dance with the well -known Joan Baró. This meeting not only celebrated music, but also the union between people in an atmosphere of joy and creativity.

Looking to the future: singing for peace

The day concluded with the announcement of the next edition, which will take place on April 26, 2026, a symbolic moment that coincides with the ninety anniversary of a warlike conflict in the region. In a context where global tensions increase, Lleida sings has been committed to being a voice for peace, with the aim of promoting union through music.

Music and community legacy

As Master Virgil said, ‘Music is a magnificent cultural tool that enriches the collective soul’. Lleida sings, with her community spirit, continues the legacy of Virgil, fostering the motto ‘Sing and esteem’, which is essential for Marist charisma. This edition has been a palpable demonstration that, in diversity and collaboration, can be achieved.
