Russia steps up attacks in Ukraine

While international attention is focused on the Middle East, Russia has intensified its offensive in Ukraine. This Friday, the Russian army launched a missile offensive on the Dnipro region in the center of the country, killing at least eight people and injuring 25. This attack has caused damage to critical infrastructure facilities, such as a residential building and a train station in the capital of the region.

Ukraine’s call for help

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has once again asked for arms support from his allies to deal with this intensification of Russian attacks. He has urged the international community to hold Russia accountable for its actions and to shoot down all missiles and drones perpetrating these attacks.

Attack on the railway infrastructure

The governor of the Dnipro region, Serhí Lisak, has reported that anti-aircraft defenses have managed to shoot down some of the missiles and drones in this attack. In addition, Russia has been reported to have deliberately attacked rail infrastructure, shutting down the train station and affecting rail traffic.

Intensification of Russian attacks

Moscow has increased its attacks in Ukraine, especially against energy infrastructure, taking advantage of Kyiv’s weakness. This situation has been exacerbated by the reduction of support from Western allies, such as the blocking in the US Congress of a military aid package for Ukraine.
