A new horizon for early childhood education
From the next school year, Sant Vicenç dels Horts will incorporate a new municipal nursery school, raising the total number of public centers dedicated to the education of children. This initiative adds to the existing ones, the Municipal Nursery School Petit Mamut and the L’Alegria Municipal Nursery School, and represents a significant breakthrough in access to early childhood education.
Municipal Commitment to Education
The City Council has been working hard to increase the available public places, and this week it has been approved by the Department of Education of the Generalitat. This will allow three classrooms to be separated from La Vinyala School, intended for two groups of children 2 and a group of children 1 from next year.
A response to family needs
Mayor Miguel Comino has expressed his satisfaction with this extension, emphasizing that it is a commitment that the municipal government has assumed: “Thanks to the collective effort, we have been able to make this need a reality. I want to thank the collaboration of the Generalitat and the management of La Vinyala, with whom we have worked closely”.
Innovations in public education
The model of separating classrooms to create more kindergartens has been a strategy that has so far been applied only in rural areas. However, with the entry of the new Minister of Education, Esther Niubó, it has been decided to extend this option throughout the territory to facilitate access to public education. Comino had talks with the counselor in November to urge the processes needed to create these places.
Forecasts for the next year
The new municipal nursery school will begin its operation during the 2025-2026 academic year. However, during the current pre -registration period, no place can be requested for the new center. Access to this service will be carried out gradually throughout the next year.
A focus on childhood well -being
The Councilor for Education, Patrícia Higueras, emphasized the importance of ensuring that children access a quality education from their early stages. “The City Council is strongly committed to public education, and that’s why we have worked tirelessly to offer these places that are so necessary for families.”
