The double speech of the president of the Cabildo of La Palma

The spokesperson for the Socialist Group of the Cabildo of La Palma, Borja Perdomo, has expressed his regret for the misleading rhetoric of the president of the island institution. According to Perdomo, the president is now requesting modifications to the decree on aid to farmers affected by the volcano, despite having previously rejected a similar proposal from the PSOE in plenary. This situation has led to a loss of credibility, since, according to Perdomo, the president of the Canary Coalition is exercising demagoguery by requesting the modification of the decree, hiding his lack of commitment to the farmers of the Aridane Valley.

Lack of commitment and slowness in Government action

The socialist spokesperson also criticizes the lack of commitment of the insular Minister of Agriculture, who previously defended in full that it was preferable to act less quickly but effectively. According to Perdomo, the arrival of the Canarian Coalition to power has represented a setback in the aspirations of the people affected by the volcanic eruption, failing to fulfill electoral promises and without reflecting the interests of farmers in the decisions made.

Call for courage and solidarity with farmers

Borja Perdomo calls on the president of the Cabildo to show courage and join the farmers in modifying the agricultural reconstruction decree. He highlights that it is regrettable to witness the disorganization in agrarian reconstruction, with governments that have neglected the interests of farmers, especially those with fewer resources.
