Celebration of Excellence in Pastry
Last Saturday, Sant Vicenç dels Horts became the scene of a gala that paid tribute to the art of pastry in Catalonia. At this ceremony, four outstanding pastry shops from Vallès Oriental were recognized with the prestigious Fava de Cacau Award, which distinguishes the 50 best pastry shops in the region.
Tradition and Innovation: The Winners
The award-winning patisseries include well-known names such as Pastisseria Sant Llehí in Cardedeu and Sant Antoni, Pastisseria Maurici Cot in Llinars, Pessic Pastisseria in La Garriga and Pastisseria Rodellas in Sant Celoni. This year, the competition was intense, but these shops have once again demonstrated their quality and dedication.
Recognition for Quality and Effort
Maurici Cot, owner of the Pastry Shop that bears his name, expresses his gratitude for the recognition: “We specialize in gluten-free and lactose-free products. We appreciate that our work is valued in an often forgotten sector.”
A Family Tie
Pastisseria Rodellas, with 47 years of history, has received the award for the fifth consecutive year. Jordi Rodellas comments: “Our audience is very loyal and this award has helped us make a name for ourselves outside our area. We had the honor of preparing desserts for the Gaudí Awards, something we would not have imagined.”
The New Generation of Pastry Chefs
Pessic Pastisseria, with only three years of existence, has won the hearts of customers and has obtained the award on two occasions. Estela Durarri shares: “The recognition has helped us grow, both in sales and popularity, and we hope that this momentum continues.”
A Quality Badge
The Cocoa Bean is a distinctive mark that not only brings prestige, but also serves as a marketing tool for the selected patisseries. This year, the list includes new additions, such as Pastisseria Atzavara de Tona, which has been recognized for the first time.
Promising Future for the Sector
With the Fava de Cacau, the patisseries not only celebrate their successes, but also look to the future with optimism. The increased visibility on social media and the public interest in their creations suggest that the world of Catalan pastry will continue to evolve and surprise.
