The CCOO union ensures that the agreed improvements are guaranteed
Faced with the non-approval of the budgets of the Generalitat, the CCOO union has met with the Catalan Health Service to confirm that the improvements to the Third Agreement of the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and the Third Health Agreement Concerted (SISCAT) agreements are guaranteed with the budget extension. They claim that, despite this, it will not be possible to count on the increase in the budget item planned for Health.
Agreements to improve the working conditions of health professionals
Last November 2023, the ICS and the unions CCOO, UGT, Metges de Catalunya and SATSE reached an agreement to improve the working conditions of some 55,000 professionals who work for this public company, which manages the majority of CAP and some hospitals in Catalonia.
Improvements in working conditions
The Third Agreement includes, among other measures, that the professional career of the rest of the system will be recognized for the professionals who join. It was also announced a 100% increase in the price of guards for the special days of Christmas and New Year. With the new agreement, doctors will have salary improvements from the time they join the ICS, and a specific supplement is created for primary care and a supplement for the senior doctor when he stops working on call. The fixed salary of nurses is increased by 1,700 euros per year and for all non-medical groups the annual working day is reduced by 43 hours, from 1,642 to 1,599.
Importance of closing the deal before the end of November
CCOO says it was very important to close the deal before the end of November, because if they waited until December, it wouldn’t have made it into the 2023 budget. In a worst-case scenario, they say, a budget extension would have ensured that the improvements economic provisions contained in the Third Agreement would automatically pass to the 2024 budget.
