A Significant Investment in the Improvement of Health Centers
The Government has allocated more than 80 million euros to the improvement of health centers in the Health Region of Girona from 2021. This investment has been directed to the improvement of hospital centers and the construction of new equipment, with a focus both in the finished works as in those that are underway at the moment. This initiative has given a significant impetus to the construction of new health facilities, some of which have been improved and others are newly built.
Improvements in Primary Care Centers
In the field of primary care, new local clinics have been put into operation and several primary care centers have been expanded and renovated. In addition, other centers are currently under construction and are expected to become operational in the near future. Advances in the Hospital Field

This includes the launch of new interventional areas and specialized laboratories, as well as the expansion of surgical blocks, all with the aim of improving health care and surgical capacity.
The Future Health Campus of the Health Region of Girona
One of the most relevant projects is the new Health Campus of the Health Region of Girona, which will include the New Trueta. This project, which is expected to involve an investment of between 500 and 600 million euros, will be a point of reference in the region’s health care in the coming years. This initiative will promote innovation and improve the care that the citizens of the Region receive.
New Hospital in Palamós
Another highlight is the announcement of the construction of a new hospital in Palamós, which will mean a significant improvement in the healthcare network of the Girona Region. This initiative, which is in the planning and urban planning phase, represents an important step to guarantee quality health care for the population of the area.
