The end of a peaceful protest

After fifteen days, activists Gabriela Serra, Llum Mascaray and Martí Olivella have concluded their hunger strike in search of peace in Palestine. Although the strike has ended, Serra has emphasized that the fight for peace in Palestine continues.

Political support and commitments

During their protest, the activists received a visit from political representatives, and Minister Meritxell Serret contacted them. In addition, different political groups in the Parliament of Catalonia have shown their support and have reached compromises with the activists.

Call to action

Activists have also urged the population to send letters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, demanding an end to the arms trade with Israel and showing strong support for South Africa’s complaint against the State of Israel.

The activists’ manifesto

In their manifesto, the activists expressed that their hunger strike was an act of empathy with the people who suffer daily from the lack of peace. They denounced decades of colonization, occupation, apartheid, murders and asymmetric bombings by the State of Israel against the Palestinian population.

Call to stop genocide

Activists called to stop the genocide in Palestine, end the arms trade and end relations with Israel. They highlighted that the embargo on the purchase and sale of weapons is a moral and legal obligation, since the Spanish legal framework prohibits the sale of weapons to countries in conflict or that seriously violate Human Rights.
