The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) have agreed to recover their headquarters for the theoretical driving tests in Ripoll, Olot (Girona), Tortosa (Tarragona), La Seu d’Urgell and La Pobla of Segur (Leida). In a press release this Thursday, they explained that the SCT will provide the computer equipment and the DGT the software for the exam.
Recovery of headquarters and local coordination
The first headquarters to be recovered will be Ripoll, in a premises lent by the Ripollès County Council, and the Girona Driving School Federation will coordinate the launch of this process.
Claims and training to reduce accidents
During the meeting of the agreement, the SCT once again demanded from the DGT the transfer of powers to the Government to carry out the practical driving tests, since they consider that the extra hours of the examiners do not meet the needs and the existing demand , and that ‘a stable staff of this group is needed’. On the other hand, it was discussed that, in order to reduce truck accidents involving drivers from other European Union countries, especially in AP-7, heavy vehicle drivers who come to work will be trained from Catalonia here and they are waiting for the card change.
