The Masia de la Salut and its rehabilitation
The Masia de la Salut, a 24-hectare farm originally from the 15th century, will be the subject of a comprehensive rehabilitation thanks to a grant of 860 thousand euros provided by the European Union. This farmhouse is located next to the Riera de la Salut path, which is the main entrance to the natural park from Sant Feliu. The aim of this reform is to create a third Collserola interpretation centre, as Barcelona and Cerdanyola already have one.
The rehabilitation project
The rehabilitation project of the Masia de la Salut has been made possible thanks to the Sant Feliu City Council, which is within the municipalities of the provisional grant resolution of the Next generation PRIEP II call. This call aims to rehabilitate public buildings through the introduction of renewable energy measures. The comprehensive reform of the farmhouse will begin in 2024 and will last almost three years, until 2026.
Collaboration between institutions
The rehabilitation project of the Masia de la Salut has had the participation of the technical services of the Serra de Collserola Natural Park Consortium and the Department of Environment of Sant Feliu City Council. These two institutions have collaborated to build a farmhouse that will become an environmental information center for the natural park, serving the schools, the population of Sant Feliu and nearby towns.
The rehabilitation works
The rehabilitation works of the Masia de la Salut will focus on the building of the farmhouse. These works will include the improvement of the interior rooms with new insulation, carpentry, implementation of renewable energy and recovery of rainwater through pipes and the reconstruction of a pond. The Masia de la Salut rehabilitation project has been rated as the twenty-sixth best proposal in the Spanish State and the fourth in Catalonia in the Next Generation call. Currently, the project is valued at 1,519,610.67 euros, with a subsidy of 868,003.34 euros provided by the European Union.
The Sant Feliu Urban Agenda Action Plan
The rehabilitation of the Masia de la Salut is part of the Action Plan of the Urban Agenda of Sant Feliu, approved by the Municipal Plenum of July 2022. The purpose of this plan is to establish the foundations and transformative projects that must ‘guide the development of the city towards a more inclusive, safe and sustainable model in the next 10 years.
