Convocation and Dissolution of Parliament
The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has signed the decree calling the elections of May 12 and dissolving the Parliament. This decision was taken after Parliament overturned the 2024 budget, by approving the amendments in full. Despite the agreement with the PSC to push forward the accounts, the veto of the commons precipitated the president’s decision.
Electoral Calendar
Request and Issuance of the Vote by Mail
The postal vote can be requested from tomorrow until 10 days before the elections, that is, until May 2. Votes by mail can be cast from April 22nd until May 8th.
Submission of Applications
Nominations must be submitted between April 3 and 8. On April 16, the candidacies already announced by the JEC will be published.
Raffles and Electoral Campaign
The draws for the electoral months will take place from April 13 to 17. The campaign will start on the night of Thursday 25 to Friday 26 April, and will end on Friday 10 May, 15 days later.
Key Days
Saturday 11 May is the day of reflection, the eve of the elections. May 12 is election day.
Next European Elections
It should be noted that May 12 will come just 11 days before the start of the campaign for the European elections, which will take place on June 9.
